    The Marketing Communications Creative Director has superior design knowledge and a forward-thinking, artistic mindset to lead and evolve our brand across all system channels and vehicles. This role requires a broad range of creative expertise—including graphic, interior, and environmental design, along with experience in video, audio, and animation—and the ability to meld creativity with business strategy to deliver impactful, brand-aligned work. The ideal candidate is a strong presenter who can clearly articulate creative rationale to leaders and internal clients, while also demonstrating excellence in marketing, advertising, and brand-building. A proven leader and problem-solver, the Creative Director will foster cross-functional collaboration and team development, manage external vendors, and provide brand consultation across a wide range of projects. This role is both creative and consultative, requiring strong customer service skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with leadership and a system-wide client base. The Creative Director will work closely with Marketing Communications leadership to streamline creative processes, assess requests with a system mindset in partnership with the Program Manager, and collaborate with System and Market Marketing Communications team members to deliver exceptional work for both internal and external UnityPoint Health audiences.

    Responsibilities

    • Superior design knowledge, with strong ability to meld strategy and creative execution with a forward thinking, artistic mindset.
    • Have significant breadth of creative skills including graphic design, interior and environmental design in addition to experience in video, audio and animation.
    • Excellent presentation skills – with the intent to provide rationale for creative concepts to leaders and internal clients.
    • Experience in marketing and advertising collateral and ability to positively build a brand.
    • Proven leader with experience in cross collaboration and problem-solving skills with the ability to grow and manage a team.
    • Ability to manage multiple external vendors and agencies, provide consultation and brand direction to contract partners and freelancers.
    • Provide excellent customer service and develop consultative relationships with leadership and multi-level, system-wide client base.
    • Help to drive brand evolution across all system channels and vehicles.
    • Partner with Program Manager to assess creative requests with a system mindset.
    • Collaborate with both System and Market MarCom team members to execute creative needs for all in-house business accounts, team member communications and events, and external marketing efforts.
    • Work closely with Marketing Communications leadership to consult on creative from a brand perspective, streamline processes and maximize efficiencies.
    • Partner with Creative Services Manager and Program Manager to assess, prioritize and traffic workload to team members.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or related

    Experience:

    • 10+ years of relevant experience with proven ability to work collaboratively and successfully with a diverse range of individuals and projects.
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in graphic design, content development, video production and digital animation.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
    • Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Graphic design, content development and video production and animation.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and respond with patience and professionalism in all situations.
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to identify needs and work with others to develop solutions.
    • Sound judgment with willingness to seek guidance when appropriate.
    • High level of commitment to subject matter and continuous learning.
    • Strong work ethic and ability to perform well in stressful situations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and Adobe Creative Cloud products including After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere.
    • Results-oriented and driven to achieve outcomes.
    • Preferred: Photography experience including Creative Direction managing headshots and lifestyle shoots
