We are looking for a PT 988 Crisis Hotline Counselor to join our Crisis Intervention Department!

Work Schedule: Part Time - 24 hours per week

• 11:00am-7:00pm (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday)

Education Required: Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in an area of Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, etc.). Will consider any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required. Knowledge of Behavioral Health Systems (preferred: Crisis Intervention, Psychiatric Emergency, Risk Assessment, Community Behavioral Health, Levels of Care, Co-Occurring Disorders, Trauma-Informed Care, Confidentiality). Knowledgeable of privacy of information regulations and guidelines pertaining to their access, use, and disclosure requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• The Crisis Hotline Counselor responds to calls on the MCES local Crisis Hotline and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The Crisis Hotline Counselor gathers information as to the nature of the problem and conducts suicide risk assessment, counseling, support, education, and referrals to individuals and third-party callers who seek assistance with behavioral health-related issues.
• The Crisis Hotline Counselor provides appropriate referrals using the least restrictive alternatives and diversion options, including active rescue and involuntary evaluation requests. The Crisis Hotline Counselor also provides follow-up.
• The Crisis Hotline Counselor provides downtime support to the Crisis Intervention Department, as directed by supervisor.

Must be able to work independently and professionally with others. Have excellent oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability in a fast-paced environment.
