Summary At M1 Kids Academy, Substitute Teachers provide essential support by stepping into classrooms when regular teaching staff are unavailable. This role is vital to ensuring that children continue to experience a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment each day. Substitute Teachers bring flexibility, patience, and a love for working with children, helping maintain routines, classroom expectations, and positive relationships. Whether for a few hours or a full day, Substitute Teachers play an important part in upholding the mission and values of M1 Kids Academy.
Duties - Provide a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered environment for children in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Follow lesson plans, daily routines, and guidance left by the Lead Teacher to maintain consistency in the classroom.
- Supervise and engage children in developmentally appropriate activities that encourage learning and positive behavior.
- Support children’s individual needs with patience, care, and flexibility.
- Communicate effectively with staff and children to ensure a smooth transition during teacher absences.
- Maintain classroom organization, safety, and compliance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) licensing regulations.
- Collaborate with assistant teachers and other staff to provide a supportive and positive classroom environment.
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
- Flexibility to work in different classrooms and age groups as needed.
- Ability to follow lesson plans, routines, and directions from Lead Teachers and administrators.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and staff.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered environment.
- Must pass required background checks and medical/TB requirements per state licensing regulations.
- Willingness to participate in orientation and training as needed.
Nice To Haves - CPR and First Aid certification.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or early childhood coursework.
- Experience working in a licensed child care program.
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum or other early childhood curriculum.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages).
- Strong organizational skills and creativity in engaging children.
- A heart for ministry and a passion for integrating faith-based principles into daily interactions.
