Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Tax Manager to join their 35 person public accounting firm. The Tax Manager will oversee tax planning, compliance, and consulting engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including corporations, partnerships, and individuals. This leadership role involves managing staff, reviewing complex tax returns, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building strong client relationships.
Review and sign off on complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
Provide strategic tax planning and consulting to clients, including high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.
Research complex tax issues and communicate findings and recommendations to clients and partners.
Manage client relationships and act as the main point of contact for assigned accounts.
Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff and seniors, providing feedback and professional development guidance.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws.
Assist in managing the firm’s tax workflow and help allocate work among team members to meet deadlines.
Participate in business development efforts and identify opportunities for additional client services.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Master’s in Taxation or MBA preferred.
Certification: CPA license preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting. NOT BIG 4.
Strong knowledge of tax code, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, Lacerte, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with clients in industries such as real estate, manufacturing, professional services, or technology.
Familiarity with, multi-state taxation, or estate planning is a plus.
